VOICE ✍ 004 --> Backdated to WEDNESDAY EVENING, June 29th

[Inspector Javert does not make a video broadcast this time. Instead, for this bulletin, his voice sounds crisp, cold, detached, and shockingly steady considering the fact that this woman is his wife and he hasn't heard from her since before Sunday.]

I am seeking a woman called Dr. Naomi Hunter. Send any information, whether she is dead or living, to Inspector Javert through Somni Police Department Headquarters in the Government District.

Quickly.

Unaccounted for.

[Civility. Very stiff, professional, and strained civility, but at least she is behaving like a gentlewoman. There is a brief pause while Javert collects his thoughts, remembering his last urgent chat with Naomi.]

I remember it was Saturday, [he declares abruptly.] The rains were worst then.

[There is more than just a hint of surprise in the usually composed prosecutor's voice.]

And you've waited this long to find her?! [While Naomi and Javert may not be her favorite people in Somarium, it is quite odd to hear that the woman's own husband has waited this long to finally put out a request on her whereabouts. Did he even really even care for her safety after all that had happened in the last week?

There is only silence on Franziska's end until finally a small huff.]
You fool.

I will arrange for a small group of men to locate her.

Don't think I have done nothing. But I will not waste our resources needlessly. I will follow proper procedure.

[Javert's voice takes on a steely, frosty edge. It is the most emotion he has expressed so far. If it even qualifies as emotive expression.]

How many men?

[identity profile] perfektioniert.livejournal.com 2011-07-01 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
[There. At least she's assured he isn't a complete monster.

Mostly.]

Five. I realize it is not a favorable amount, but there is still far too much we need to do for the rest of the city.

[identity profile] chose-death.livejournal.com 2011-07-01 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Five, [he murmurs through his teeth.] It is just enough.

[Javert adds stonily, assuming that Franziska will not allow him to participate in these efforts due to the personal nature of his connection to the victim,]

Who will command them?

[identity profile] perfektioniert.livejournal.com 2011-07-01 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
... I will allow you to choose who you think is suitable for the job.

[She isn't being nice. She's just that busy that it is difficult to keep track of who she has assigned to what.]

[identity profile] chose-death.livejournal.com 2011-07-01 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
You will receive my recommendation at the end of the day.

... If I have no other word by then.

[identity profile] perfektioniert.livejournal.com 2011-07-01 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Fine. [Franziska sees no reason in waiting any longer than he already has, but if Javert really isn't that eager to find his own wife again, so be it.

She'd likely be better off. If she isn't dead already.]

Have you anything else to report, Inspector Javert?

[identity profile] chose-death.livejournal.com 2011-07-01 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[If Javert is glad of Franziska's subject change, it does not show in his tone.]

The camps are filling fast, [he reports.] At the current rate, the emergency provisions will run us one week.

You will receive a detailed document about it tonight.

[identity profile] perfektioniert.livejournal.com 2011-07-01 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I am well aware of that situation, but I will keep an eye out for your report nonetheless. Is that all or is there more foolish nonsense you want to waste my time with?

[identity profile] chose-death.livejournal.com 2011-07-02 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
I will not waste more of your time. [And for once, there is no subtle irony in his tone; only solemnity.]

Good-bye until the evening report, Mademoiselle.

[identity profile] perfektioniert.livejournal.com 2011-07-02 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
[And Franziska hangs up before that tone gets to her. She hates the man, after all. She doesn't want to actually feel bad for him.]
